Past Programs

 

Nancy Hlibok Amann, a native New Yorker, earned her B.A. and M.S.
degrees from Gallaudet University and a Ph.D. in Language, Reading, and Culture from the University of Arizona. Her dissertation examined Closed Captioning as a Literacy Tool for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Middle School Students.

She worked in various educational settings from preschool through higher education as a teacher, parent mentor (she has three children; her eldest is deaf), and facilitator in Arizona for thirteen years. As a Literacy Specialist, she facilitated the integration and implementation of language arts across the curriculum and established/directed the first Center of ASL/English Bilingual Education and Research program for teachers at two site schools

Currently, she is the Principal of the Middle School Department at Arizona School for the Deaf and the Blind.
